RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead Engineer role within the Wood Asset Life Optimisation (ALO) group contributing to the delivery of vibration, dynamics and noise engineering consultancy services to the internal Wood business units and to Wood's external client base. This role is primarily based in Wood offices but may also require on-site support, both onshore and offshore.
Roles in this team are crucial for ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of engineering projects and will typically support one or more of the following specialist areas:
1. Static Equipment and Structures (SES): Providing expert advice and solutions to avoid vibration-related problems in new projects or modifications to existing facilities.
2. Field Engineering and Troubleshooting (FET): Conducting inspections, troubleshooting, and performance testing on-site to solve vibration and performance issues.
The key high-level aspects of the role are as follows:
- A competent team member with typically more than ten (10) years of progressively more responsible pertinent piping vibration experience.
- Leads vibration engineering work scopes and consultancy services as directed by immediate supervisor.
- Uses technical knowledge to perform engineering assignments and produces engineering deliverables including complex problems, with minimal guidance and direction.
- Serves as the primary discipline Lead engineer on projects with small to medium complexity.
- Applies specific expertise in own specialist area (i.e. Piping Vibration).
- Reviews and manages complex projects within area of expertise or of a multidisciplinary nature.
Providing discipline expertise.- Responsible for data collection and gathering of information of multiple sources for preparation of vibration studies.
- Leading Piping Vibration screening assessments and studies based on the Energy Institute 'Guidelines for the Avoidance of Vibration Induced Fatigue Failure in Process
Definition and approval of technical scopes.- Contributes to defining vibration project objectives and deliverables.
- Reviews existing processes and suggests improvements to enhance the efficiency of project planning and scheduling.
- Provides recommendations on project structure, methodologies, and technical innovations by developing practical and cost-effective solutions to challenges within vibration, dynamics and noise related engineering fields.
Executing and managing assigned scope of work- Oversees and engages in the execution of vibration focused tasks and projects.
- Manages project delivery, ensuring adherence to main contract deliverables, scope compliance, quality standards, and profitability.
- Contributes to project success by resolving issues such as conflicting technical requirements and complex coordination needs.
- Applies sound technical judgment to develop practical, cost-effective solutions.
- Evaluates work against established standards, objectives, and specifications.
- Complies with relevant discipline-specific procedures and provides feedback for continuous improvement.
- Manages key stakeholders to ensure successful execution and delivery of contracted activities.
- Organizes, actively participates in, and occasionally leads technical workshops.
- Frequently works from and represents the company in client offices.
- Proactively identifies and mitigates project risks.
Contributing to business growth.- Contributes to business development through regular engagement, relationship building and delivery to clients, as well as identifying and pursuing opportunities to expand scope of work for Wood.
- Contributes to engineering bids and proposals.
Supervising the local Static Equipment Vibration team.- Supervise a small work group (2 - 4 engineers) with some coaching from own supervisor or may provide advice and guidance in area of specialisation to others.
- Assist in performing managerial tasks as requested, such as assigning tasks to engineers; planning and coordinating portions of the engineering work; preparing scopes, schedules, and budgets; attending project meetings; and developing lesser-experienced technical professionals.
- Discusses with other senior engineers to agree priorities and implications on work of others.
- Approves work schedules and makes recommendations for increased resources and special equipment.
- Makes commitments on acceptance of projects, completion dates, resources and staff required to meet goals.
- Coordinates the activities of engineering and design groups assigned to small projects.
- Participates in developing deadlines, projects and work to be done.
- Manage one or more small projects, with responsibility for cost, schedule, resources allocation and risk.Provide appropriate HSSE leadership including compliance with site and office safety requirements and technical/design safety requirements.

Expected:- ISCED Level 6 Bachelors (minimum) or Level 7 Masters (preferred) Degree in engineering discipline, alternatively, tertiary level education combined with suitable industry experience can be used to demonstrate equivalence.
- Chartership or relevant professional engineer status accredited by a national or industry engineering institution preferred.
- Demonstratable CPD record showing examples of technical and consulting development
Significant experience (>10 years) working in the on- and offshore oil and gas industry. - Demonstrable senior technical experience in piping vibration, and engineering project management.
