Our Earth & Environment team requires a team player with leadership, technical, and commercial skills, knowledge, and experience to take overall responsibility for the discipline, including oversight of project capture and delivery, ensuring technical quality and adherence to budget and schedule, and managing and mentoring staff.
Qualifications
- BSc and MSc degrees in a relevant environmental or engineering discipline.
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., IEMA or equivalent), preferably with chartered status.
- 8-10 years of experience managing large, complex environmental projects across multiple disciplines.
- Experience working in an international consultancy.
- Experience in air dispersion or noise modeling is advantageous.
- Ability to work across multiple disciplines with a flexible mindset.
- Experience providing technical alternatives and solutions, including clarifications and design solutions to clients.
- Strong proofing, editing, and report collation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Robust project, time, and financial management skills.

Responsibilities
The Environmental Manager will be responsible for:
- Health & Safety – Overseeing health, safety, and wellbeing of staff within your discipline.
- Business Development – Supporting sector leads and driving business development within your discipline, including liaising with clients both internal and external to WSP.
- Commercial – Monitoring and reviewing the commercial performance of your discipline to meet KPIs, with detailed reporting to the Environment Advisory and P&L Director.
- Operations – Ensuring your discipline collaborates effectively with other disciplines, supporting a ‘One National Team’ approach, including:
- Weekly resourcing oversight
- Supporting team integration
- Weekly communication and acting as the main flow of communication from higher management
- Ensuring company messaging is received by the team
- Providing technical support and authorizations for project deliverables
- People Management – Conducting regular team meetings, mentoring, and supporting team members’ career development.
