Responsibilities:

1. Develop and Implement Environmental Strategies:
   • Develop and implement environmental strategies and action plans to ensure corporate sustainable development.
2. Lead Sustainability Initiatives:
   • Take the lead on sustainable procurement for all goods and services.
   • Coordinate all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation, and renewable energy.
3. Monitor and Report Environmental Performance:
   • Audit, analyze, and report environmental performance to internal and external clients and regulatory bodies.
   • Carry out impact assessments to identify, assess, and reduce an organization's environmental risks and financial costs.
4. Promote Environmental Awareness:
   • Promote and raise awareness, at all levels of an organization, of the impact of emerging environmental issues.
   • Implement best practice in areas of corporate, ethical, and social responsibility and address any issues arising.
5. Manage Environmental Systems:
   • Develop and implement environmental management systems to continually improve the impact of the organization on the environment.
   • Coordinate public hearings and consultations on environmental matters.
6. Manage Relations and Training:
   • Manage relations with the board of directors, internal colleagues, and external stakeholders.
   • Train staff at all levels on environmental issues and responsibilities.
7. Negotiate Environmental Agreements:
   • Negotiate environmental service agreements and manage associated costs and revenues.
8. Write Environmental Reports:
   • Write environmental reports, assuming lead responsibility in the company.
9. Set Sustainability Targets:
   • Set organizational sustainability targets, developing plans to meet those targets and oversee their delivery.

Requirements:

1. Education:
   • A degree in a relevant field such as bioscience, earth sciences, ecology, energy, environmental engineering, environmental health, environmental sciences, or management.
2. Experience:
   • Relevant work experience in environmental management or a related field.
3. Professional Development:
   • Membership of a relevant professional body
4. Skills:
   • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
   • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
   • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
   • Strong understanding of environmental legislation and regulations.
