ENVIRONMENT COORDINATOR

Job Purpose :
To plan, organize and direct day-to-day operations of the environmental department that is consistent with Operating Standards towards environmental improvement.
The jobholder will be accountable for periodic environmental audit, reporting and continual improvement of the service delivery of the environment department in collaboration with QHSE specialist.
Key Result Areas:
1.Allocate and supervise work assigned to team leaders and team members in order to ensure recycling material requirements are met in line with laid down specifications and hygiene standards.
2.Carryout yearly performance appraisals for assigned direct and indirect reports ensuring that staff development plans are in place and that poor performance is managed.
3.Perform companywide environmental audits biannually based on ISO 14001 standards and in line with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards.
4.Contribute in the development of strategic goals and SLA*s, and implement and monitor them towards environmental improvement and awareness programs like zero waste, reduction in Electricity & Water consumption.
5.Contribute in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual sustainability reports and presentations designed to provide updates on progress toward sustainability goals.
6.Collaborate with recycling suppliers to ensure timely and cost effective recycling of material and to measure the suppliers* performance against agreed SLAs and report to Procurement.
7.Stay updated with new developments in environmental policies and regulations to formulate recommended action plans and solutions towards environmental improvement.
8.Develops and works toward continual improvement to reduce environmental damages and wastes through regular site inspections, identify root causes of environmental problems / risk and propose appropriate action plans for mitigation.
9.Apply the Quality Policy, safety policy and environmental policy in accordance with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 45001 and ISO14001.
Job Context:
The Environment Coordinators roles and responsibilities will include supervising, coaching, mentoring, carrying out performance reviews and disciplinary actions for the team.
This role will cover multiple sites including the east wing, west wing, office areas, Food Point, Linen craft and any off-site events that EKFC are catering.
This position will be accountable for recording and analysing the waste data that is submitted in the yearly environmental report.
The environment coordinator will support the specialist in researching the market to identify new strategic measures to improve the environment and sustainability of Emirates Flight Catering.
Knowledge, Skills & Minimum Experience:
Education Qualification:
Diploma or higher in Environmental Management, Environmental Technology or relevant concentration. (Or time served)
High standards of verbal and written communication in English.
Extensive experience in a supervisory role in an airport catering services environment.
Work Experience:
Minimum 5 years* experience in an airline catering company in a similar role.
Skills:
Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
Hands-on experience working towards KPI*s relating to cost, compliance, service and people.
Demonstrated ability to manage staff.
A professional manner with the ability to work under pressure to meet targets and achieve results.

Demonstrated ability to maintain constructive relationships with others.
Strong personal passion for sustainability
Basic knowledge of sustainability and current conservation practices.
Valid UAE Drivers Licence - Light Vehicle (not mandatory).
