Job summary

GEMS Westminster School - Ras Al Khaimah is seeking a Secondary English Teacher to plan and deliver high-quality English lessons under the British Curriculum. You will develop students' reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, vocabulary and literary analysis.

The role involves teaching GCSE/IGCSE English Language and Literature, fostering analytical thinking and creative writing, and preparing students for relevant British examinations.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging English lessons for secondary students in line with the British Curriculum.
• Teach English Language and English Literature according to KeyStage and examination specifications.
• Develop reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.
• Teach a range of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, drama and literary texts.
• Prepare students for GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level or other British examinations.
• Develop students' analytical, critical-thinking, creative-writing and communication skills.
• Plan lessons with clear learning objectives, appropriate challenge and measurable outcomes.
• Differentiate activities to meet diverse abilities including high-achievers and those needing support.
• Use a range of teaching strategies to promote active participation and independent learning.

The Secondary English Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering high-quality English lessons in accordance with theBritish Curriculum, enabling students to develop strong skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, vocabulary and literary analysis.

Key Responsibilities:
