GEMS Westminster School - Ras Al Khaimah WSR is a real community that combines tradition and innovation in teaching and learning, enabling pupils to be the best they can be in all aspects of school life.

We offer the internationally recognised National Curriculum for England, and prepare students to take the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) course and A Level Examinations of the Universities of Cambridge and London (UK). At the present time, the school offers this curriculum from Early Years Foundation Stage to Grade 12 and Pre-KG.

Teaching

  • Deliver the required curriculum; demonstrating accurate and up to date knowledge of curriculum and subject matter.
  • Plan and deliver quality lessons to motivate students. Create and utilize appropriate materials and the classroom environment to cater for different learning styles.
  • Show written evidence of planning and preparation on request. Establish and maintain records of curriculum and year plans, attendance, teaching resources, assessment plans etc.
  • Teach students assigned according to their individual needs using appropriate teaching strategies that meet student needs and abilities eg. late-entering students, ESL, low academic ability, gifted and talented etc.
  • Set and mark work. Assess, record and report on the academic
  • development, progress and attainment of students and use assessment to ensure the curriculum meets the individual student’s needs.
  • Display competence in using media and technology in the classroom.
  • Promote the general progress and well-being of students and provide guidance to students on educational matters.
  • Model and encourage cultural awareness and understanding and promote a love of learning.
  • Perform clerical duties associated with textbooks, instructional supplies, equipment, student reports and records, attendance reports.
  • Prepare a daily program including daily lesson plans which shall be available for substitute teachers.
  • Contribute to the monitoring of student outcomes and effectiveness of programs and the assessment and reporting of individual student progress.
  • Contribute to the implementation of curriculum improvement/development.
