As a professional in your role, your responsibilities and essential job functions will include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the Engineering team to ensure the smooth operation, maintenance, and repair of all hotel facilities, equipment, and systems
  • Supervise preventive and corrective maintenance programs across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, kitchen, and life safety systems
  • Ensure full compliance with local authority regulations, hotel brand standards, and health, safety, and environmental protocols
  • Monitor energy and utilities consumption; identify opportunities to implement sustainability initiatives and reduce operating costs
  • Coordinate technical support for guest rooms, public areas, restaurants, meeting spaces, and back-of-house facilities
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, service providers, and contractors for specialized maintenance and hotel projects
  • Prepare and manage departmental budgets, maintenance records, and inventory of supplies, tools, and spare parts
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure operational excellence and adherence to luxury standards
  • Provide training and development for the engineering team on safety, technical skills, and emergency response
  • Support the hotel’s crisis and risk management procedures, including emergency drills and equipment testing
  • Act as a key contributor during renovations, refurbishments, and new installations, ensuring minimal disruption to guests

Ideally, you should possess some or all the following qualifications and experience:

  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Facilities Engineering (or related field)
  • Minimum 5–7 years of engineering experience in the hospitality industry, with at least 2 years in a management role within a luxury hotel environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of building systems: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, elevators, BMS, and fire safety
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing diverse teams in a high-end, service-driven setting
  • Familiarity with international standards for safety, fire prevention, and environmental practices
  • Experience with energy-saving initiatives and sustainability programs is an asset
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in maintenance management systems and MS Office
  • Ability to work under pressure, solve problems effectively, and make sound decisions in emergencies
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed
