Job summary

GAL is seeking a Facilities Engineer to oversee the technical performance, maintenance and reliability of facilities across assigned locations in the UAE. The role covers MEP and building systems, planned and reactive maintenance, and ensures safety, quality and contractual compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience with large facilities (hangars, warehouses, industrial sites).
• Strong knowledge of MEP systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, firefighting).
• Experience with preventive maintenance, reactive maintenance and technical issues.
• Experience with site surveys, SOWs, BOQs, drawings and refurbishment works.
• Experience coordinating FM contractors and technical teams.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and ERP/CMMS systems.
• Strong customer management and English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support maintenance and technical management of facilities including hangars, warehouses and admin buildings.
• Review and troubleshoot MEP/building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, firefighting).
• Manage Planned Preventive Maintenance schedules and reactive work orders.
• Conduct site surveys and assist BOQ, drawings, specs and refurbishments.
• Monitor performance, service levels and KPIs to meet contractual requirements.
• Coordinate with customers, contractors and internal teams to resolve facility issues.

Job description

We are looking for a Facilities Engineer to manage and support the technical performance, maintenance and reliability of facilities across assigned locations. The role will oversee MEP and building systems, planned and reactive maintenance, technical assessments, refurbishment requirements and contractor performance while ensuring facilities meet contractual, safety, quality and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the maintenance and technical management of facilities, including hangars, warehouses, shelters and administrative buildings.
• Review, troubleshoot and evaluate MEP and building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, firefighting, generators, UPS, compressors and associated technical assets.
• Prepare, review and monitor Planned Preventive Maintenance schedules and reactive maintenance work orders.
• Conduct site surveys and support the preparation of BOQs, technical reviews, drawings, specifications and refurbishment requirements.
• Monitor facility performance, service levels and customer KPIs in line with contractual requirements.
• Coordinate with customers, contractors and internal stakeholders to resolve facility-related requirements and technical issues.
• Support project planning, technical evaluations and monitoring of maintenance and refurbishment works.
• Ensure facilities comply with applicable technical standards, statutory requirements, safety requirements and industry best practices.
• Respond to urgent facility issues and support timely resolution of operational problems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Facilities Management, Facilities Engineering, MEP or building maintenance.
• Experience supporting large-scale facilities such as hangars, warehouses, industrial, aviation, defense or similar technical environments is strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing and firefighting systems.
• Experience managing planned preventive maintenance, reactive maintenance and technical facility issues.
• Experience with site surveys, SOWs, BOQs, technical drawings, specifications and refurbishment works.
• Experience coordinating FM contractors, service providers and technical teams.
• Exposure to asset condition assessments, lifecycle planning and maintenance cost optimization is advantageous.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and ERP/maintenance management systems.
• Strong customer management, technical problem-solving and English communication skills.
