Electrical Engineer Job Description
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for executing assigned duties to ensure compliance with established standards and procedures, overseeing project deliverables, and managing electrical system design and documentation for marine and offshore projects.
- Carry out duties assigned by superiors for daily operations, ensuring compliance with standards and procedures.
- Prepare project deliverables list for electrical systems, plan electrical section deliverables according to project schedule/milestones, indicate required manpower, and track progress.
- Identify, select, and design electrical systems and equipment for projects as required.
- Verify designs and perform calculations as needed.
- Prepare electrical drawings, documentation, and lists necessary for the project.
- Draft documentation for approval by class and statutory bodies.
- Write technical specifications for shipboard electrical equipment.
- Identify changes in project specifications, scope variations, schedule impacts due to client delays, and manage change orders.
- Participate in design reviews, interdisciplinary checks, 3D model reviews, and follow up on actions.
- Guide and supervise the electrical drafting team to produce 3D models and deliverables.
- Plan and maintain manpower and resources for smooth section operations.
- Coordinate with trades and conduct inspections during vessel construction.
- Estimate man-hours and materials for delegated tasks.
- Conduct shipyard audits, risk assessments, and training as needed.
- Review third-party technical documents and drawings, clarify technical issues.
- Address classification society comments and incorporate client feedback cost-effectively.
- Ensure full compliance with electrical safety and occupational health standards.
- Possess technical knowledge of designing, installing, and commissioning electrical, control, and communication systems for marine/offshore platforms.
- Demonstrate ability to resolve technical issues during project planning and execution.
- Handle multiple projects concurrently, meet deadlines, and organize tasks effectively.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Proficiency in software such as ETAP, AGi32, etc.
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in shipyard, offshore, or oil & gas industry design offices.
- Experience with power generation, distribution, and safety systems.
