Job description

• An established, multi-specialty hospital in Sharjah is looking for an embryologist to join their IVF team.
• MOH license required.

JOB PURPOSE
To provide the technical and scientific skills and knowledge necessary to deliver a comprehensive assisted conception service.

Qualifications and Experience
Degree in a relevant scientific subject: B.Sc or M.Sc in applied science/biology.
Minimum 2 years of experience in an IVF laboratory. Tissue cell culture experience or previous IVF training.

Physical Skills
Skills requiring specialist hand-eye coordination, highly developed visual skills, delicacy of touch, dexterity, and speed, practiced daily.
Examples include:
- Semen analysis: assessing sperm quality
- Selecting sperm
- ICSI: injecting a sperm into an egg
- Handling eggs and embryos
Ability to use complex equipment and perform procedures with both hands simultaneously.
Ability to react to rapidly changing situations and interpret visual clues during procedures.

Communication and Relationships
Ensure clarity and understanding when communicating with patients, staff, and the multidisciplinary team.
Provide and receive complex and sensitive information regarding patients’ reproductive health.
Demonstrate empathy, understanding, and patience during emotionally charged treatments.
Handle communication of sensitive news, such as failed fertilization.

Analytical and Judgmental Skills
Work independently, providing scientific and technical expertise for various assisted conception methods.
Analyze and interpret test results, making treatment recommendations (e.g., semen analysis, IVF suitability, surgical interventions).
Assess embryos for uterine transfer or cryopreservation.
Decide on the viability of thawed embryos for treatment.
Assess the suitability of embryos for transfer or cryopreservation.
