Your Opportunity

On behalf of our client in the United Arab Emirates, we are looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join our organisation in Abu Dhabi. This remarkable role offers a unique opportunity to work on several exciting projects in the region.

The Embedded Software Engineer will develop, integrate, and maintain software for embedded devices, focusing on preemptive Linux OS and hardware-level communication protocols.

The hiring for this position is subject to contract award.

Key Accountabilities

1. Design and implement Linux device drivers for new hardware components.
2. Collaborate with hardware teams to bring up new hardware and ensure seamless integration between hardware and software.
3. Work on hardware-level communication protocols, including I2C, CAN, SPI, UART interfaces.
4. Debug and analyze serial communication between subsystems using tools like logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and protocol analyzers.
5. Conduct testing, validation, and debugging of the developed systems, ensuring reliability and performance under mission-critical conditions.
6. Use tools like RISCV emulators and simulators like Qemu, Renode etc. for development and validation in the absence of hardware.

Specific Requirements

Required Skills:

1. Programming skills in C/C++.
2. Proficiency in Linux kernel development and device driver creation.
3. In-depth understanding of communication protocols such as I2C, CAN, SPI, UART.
4. Strong debugging skills using tools like logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and protocol analyzers to troubleshoot serial communication issues.
5. Experience with debugging tools like GDB, JTAG, and logic analyzers.

Preferred Skills:

1. Knowledge of FDIR systems and their implementation in embedded environments.
2. Familiarity with emulation and simulation tools for hardware-in-the-loop testing.
3. Strong understanding of system-level software integration, including real-time subsystems and device synchronization.
4. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
2. 3+ years of experience in embedded software development.
3. Prior experience in mission-critical systems or aerospace projects is an advantage.
