We are currently hiring an experienced Secondary School Principal for GEMS American Academy – Abu Dhabi to start in August 2025. This appointment will be made immediately with sufficient notices offered to the current line manager. The position reports to the Head of School / CEO.

The Position :

We wish to appoint a Secondary School Principal who will embrace the GEMS American Academy community and continue to move the Secondary program forward, starting in August 2025.

The Secondary School Principal will promote the core values and mission/vision of the school and seek to ensure their effective implementation.

The goal of this position is to provide visionary leadership and demonstrate exemplary management skills in faculty recruitment and development, curriculum implementation, ensuring long-term financial stability, effective communication with all stakeholders, and supporting the social and academic growth of students.

Key Responsibility Areas :

  1. Model and encourage a culture of kindness. Promote and advance the school's mission and vision in leading all aspects of the division's program.
  2. Lead the successful implementation of the School Development Plan and develop division-specific actions aligned with the school's strategic priorities.
  3. Foster a positive school culture and climate within a diverse community.
  4. Model and encourage the IB Learner Profile and GEMS Core Values by acting with integrity, fairness, and ethics.
  5. Serve as the instructional leader for the division, maintaining a focus on high standards for student progress and attainment.
  6. Monitor and evaluate instructional programs, using data to implement sustainable improvements.
  7. Utilize assessment results to evaluate curriculum and student performance outcomes.
  8. Lead faculty development and supervision, promoting continuous improvement and learning-centered practices.
  9. Oversee daily operations, including facilities, staff, resources, and budget management to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
  10. Communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, parents, and the community in an open, caring, and approachable manner.
  11. Create a positive and productive school atmosphere where students and faculty are recognized for their efforts.
  12. Develop teachers' leadership capabilities and share leadership responsibilities when appropriate.
  13. Collaborate with the Head of School in recruiting, training, and retaining high-quality faculty.
  14. Maintain a commitment to professional learning and lifelong growth.
