Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist-Electro-Neuro Diagnostic

JOB DESCRIPTION

To conduct all Neurodiagnostic studies independently or under the supervision of a senior technologist.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Explains the test procedure to the patient to obtain the patient’s cooperation necessary for a complete examination.
2. Measures and accurately applies electrodes in a timely manner, according to the International 10-20 System. Ensure that electrode impedance meet laboratory standards.
3. Performs EEG record according to the standards of the laboratory (routine, sleep, and bedside).
4. Performs long-term video monitoring EEG in epilepsy monitoring unit.
5. Performs Evoked Potentials such as Visual, Brainstem, and Somatosensory studies with high quality results.
6. Performs Nerve Conduction Study in a highly skilled and patient-appropriate manner and assist physician during EMG procedure.
7. Implements alternative methods or adjust controls of the machine to obtain optimal recording.
8. Distinguishes between normal and abnormal test results – describes and annotates all manifestations and changes observed during tests.
9. Recognizes artifacts and perform proper steps to eliminate, monitor or document.
10. Obtain a comprehensive patient history gathering appropriate information from all sources.
11. Writes and prepares comprehensive technical EEG and EMU summary description.
12. Maintains a necessary inventory of supplies for an assigned room or workstation, rotation of stock in an orderly fashion and eliminating outdated items.
13. Participates in technical conferences and meetings.

Accountabilities

1. Performs technical solutions to equipment’s problems when needed while performing an EEG.
2. Cleans and maintain the equipment after each procedure according to hospital’s infection control policy.
3. Obtain a satisfactory EEG recording to aid physician in their interpretation.

Educational Qualification:

Required:

• Associate degree (minimum 2-year curriculum) in the field of Applied Sciences, Neurophysiology or Biophysics/Physiology or equivalent.

Desired:

• Expected to take ABRET exam after completing an internship.
