Job summary

The Lana, Dubai - Dorchester Collection is seeking an Electrician to join its luxury hotel team in Dubai. You will inspect, diagnose, maintain and repair electrical systems, ensuring work is performed to code while delivering exceptional guest experiences.

The ideal candidate has a Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a trade certificate, 3+ years in facilities management, and hands-on experience in a premium hotel setting.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering or 2 Years Trade Course on Electrical.
• Electronic Technician certification or comparable licensure.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in facility management; minimum 1 year in international 5-star hotel.
• Able to read Building, Air-conditioning, Refrigeration and Electrical drawings.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, maintain and repair electrical equipment and ensure work is to code.
• Complete electrical maintenance work orders from all departments promptly; participate in preventive maintenance.
• Respond to guest calls, resolve complaints and emergencies to ensure best guest experience.
• Maintain engineering area; coordinate with other engineering staff for smooth operation; report hazards.
• Uphold Dorchester Collection policies and safety standards in engineering work.

What You'll Do

• You will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining and repairing electrical equipment and to ensure work is done to code. Perform preventive maintenance and tests all electrical systems, sub-systems and equipment which includes disassembly, replacement, cleaning and repair. Assembles and disassembles power and lighting equipment for exhibits, meetings and banquets.
• Complete electrical maintenance work orders from all departments on a timely basis, participate in the preventive maintenance program for all building equipment and rooms, and complete other special projects assigned.
• Responds to guest calls, resolves guest complaints and responds to emergency situations to ensure our guests receive nothing but the best experience.
• You’ll also maintain engineering area, clean and in an orderly manner. Keep close coordination with other engineering staff for smooth operation. Report any serious maintenance problems, unusual findings, or safety hazards immediately to the manager.

What You'll Bring

• You’ll bring your unique personality and passion to the role and the team. Diploma in Electrical Engineering or 2 Years Trade Course on Electrical. Technical Trade Course Certificate in Electronic/Electrical/Mechanics/HVAC-R or related. Electronic Technician certification or comparable certification or licensure required. Technical training in HVAC-R/electrical/Mechanical/plumbing.
• At least 3 years’ experience in facility management with minimum 1 year in international 5-star Hotel luxury brand. Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience in an Electrician or similar role. Pre-Opening experience is preferred.
• You have a talent for Equipment Maintenance - Performing routine maintenance on various MEP systems and equipment. Repairing Electrical related equipment or systems using the needed tools. Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings or other structures such as walkways, parking lots, and guest facilities. Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures. Able to read Building, Air‑conditioning, Refrigeration and Electrical drawings. Analytical & critical thinking skills. Able to gather and organize information using a logical and systematic process. Able to work alone with minimum supervision and within a team.
• Communication is what keeps our departments running perfectly. You have great communication skills with a strong customer service ethic.
