An established industry player is seeking an Electrical Technician to maintain shipyard equipment. This role involves performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing faults, and ensuring safety standards are met. What Does an Electrical Technician Do?
- Perform preventive maintenance service (PMS) on shipyard equipment in accordance with predefined service packages
- Diagnose electrical faults and report all equipment defects to the foreman or team leader
- Attend breakdowns on-site and provide feedback after repair completion
- Dismantle equipment components for inspection and advise on parts or replacements needed
- Carry out rewiring, battery servicing, and starter motor or alternator maintenance
- Ensure materials used are in acceptable condition and meet job standards
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in work areas, especially after completing tasks
- Participate in training sessions and skill enhancement programs as required by the department
What Are the Key Responsibilities?
- Provide electrical maintenance for equipment such as cherry pickers, forklifts, side loaders, transporters, and straddle carriers
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and digital display systems for troubleshooting
- Assist with electrical repairs related to ECM-controlled systems and electronic components
- Use diagnostic equipment to analyze faults in electric and electronic circuits
- Support rewiring tasks and ensure all repairs meet operational safety standards
- Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other trades
What Skills Are Needed for an Electrical Technician in Dubai?
Education:
- High school, vocational training, or shipyard training
- Technical certificate in Electrical, Auto-Electronics, or Instrumentation (minimum 1 year)
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in maintaining plant equipment in a shipyard or industrial environment
Technical Skills:
- Understanding of electrical and electronic circuit diagrams
- Familiarity with shipyard mobile equipment and ECM-controlled machines
- Basic diagnostic skills using analyzers and fault detection tools
