Job Description

Job purpose:

Responsible for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of electrical infrastructure across Yas Island, including 11kV substations, RMUs, feeder panels, transformers, SCADA, protection relays, street lighting, and LV/MV networks. Electricians shall ensure asset uptime, respond to failures, and carry out preventive and corrective maintenance activities in compliance with SLA, HSE, and KPI frameworks.

Key responsibilities:
  1. Perform O&M activities for electrical systems such as transformers, splice switches, RMUs, feeder panels, ACBs, VCBs, SCADA terminals, and lighting assets.
  2. Conduct technical rounds, inspections, and log asset performance in CMMS.
  3. Execute planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and attend reactive/corrective breakdowns.
  4. Participate in emergency and contingency responses related to electrical faults.
  5. Maintain compliance with electrical design, operational manuals, and approved switching procedures.
  6. Escalate faults, defects, and near misses as per site escalation protocols.
  7. Ensure compliance with QHSE standards, risk assessments, and use of PPE.
  8. Guide junior technicians in safety and best practices (G1 & G2).
  9. Interface with other departments (mechanical, HVAC, civil) during cross-functional troubleshooting.
  10. Perform energy metering, lighting control, earthing verification, and cable routing inspections.
Desired Candidate Profile

Criteria:

  • Years of Experience: 2–4 years
  • Main Scope: Assist G2, handle basic repairs
  • System Access: Restricted access, supervised
  • SCADA/Relay Tasks: Report anomalies
  • Reporting: Support daily checklists
Skills required:

- Ability to read electrical drawings and interpret SCADA data.
- Proficient in the use of electrical test tools (multimeter, megger, etc.).
- Familiarity with protection relays, feeder automation, and cable terminations.
- Ability to work safely around energized equipment.
- Strong reporting, escalation, and troubleshooting ability.
- Knowledge of local and international electrical standards (DEWA/ADDC/IEC/BS).

Qualification:

- Diploma or Technical Certificate in Electrical Engineering or equivalent trade.
- Certifications: Basic Electrical Safety, Lockout Tagout (LOTO), Work at Height, First Aid, SCADA & Substation Safety (for G1).
