Job description

NES Fircroft is partnering with a major Oil & Gas producer to recruit an Electrical Development Lead for their Abu Dhabi team. This is a full-time, 12-month contract role based at the client's subcontractor offices, offering an attractive day rate and contractor package.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing performance of international contractor personnel supporting various engineering scopes from Pre-Feasibility to Concept/Select and early engineering phases.
  • Assessing and evolving the project portfolio to ensure alignment with organizational expectations and business value.
  • Serving as focal point and lead for studies and conceptual scopes within the project.
  • Providing electrical and multidisciplinary engineering assurance on behalf of the operator’s development team.
  • Leading specialist assurance and concept development for power development scopes within the portfolio.

Additional duties include overseeing study execution, reviewing contractor deliverables, managing contractor performance, integrating study scopes, supporting decision-making, preparing project documentation, supervising scope progression, supporting cost estimation, and participating in technical and risk assessments.

Candidate requirements:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • At least 20 years of experience in electrical engineering and project management within the onshore hydrocarbon industry.
  • Experience with high voltage transmission and distribution systems, substations, and power systems analysis software (e.g., ETAP).
  • Knowledge of industry standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC, NESC) and oil & gas industry specifications.
  • Proven leadership in engineering tasks, with excellent communication skills, and experience working with diverse teams and remote operations.
  • Full project lifecycle experience, including owner’s engineering and assurance.
  • Fluent in English, with strong presentation skills and familiarity with engineering codes and HSSE systems.
  • Chartered membership of a relevant professional institution is preferred.
