An Electrical Designer is responsible for creating electrical schematics, layouts, and technical drawings for a variety of projects, including commercial buildings, industrial facilities, and residential developments. This role involves collaborating with engineers, architects, and project managers to ensure electrical systems meet safety standards, regulatory codes, and client specifications. Electrical Designers utilize CAD software and industry best practices to develop efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable electrical designs.
Responsibilities:
Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout plans for buildings and industrial projects
Collaborate with engineers and architects to design power distribution, lighting, and communication systems
Ensure designs comply with national and local electrical codes, safety regulations, and industry standards
Use CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar) to create and modify electrical drawings
Conduct site surveys to assess project requirements and electrical system integration
Specify electrical components, such as circuit breakers, transformers, and wiring systems
Provide technical support and documentation for contractors and construction teams
Review and revise designs based on feedback from engineers, project managers, or regulatory bodies
Perform load calculations and ensure optimal energy efficiency in electrical designs
Stay updated on emerging electrical technologies and best practices for sustainable energy solutions
Requirements:
Bachelor s degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Design, or a related field
Proven experience in electrical design for construction, industrial, or commercial projects
Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or ETAP
Strong knowledge of electrical codes and safety regulations (e.g., NEC, IEC, or BS standards)
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with engineers and project stakeholders
Experience with power distribution, lighting design, and energy-efficient solutions
Familiarity with renewable energy systems (solar, wind, etc.) is a plus
