Job summary
DMC in Abu Dhabi is seeking an Assistant Manager - Electrical & Automation for a leading metal and steel manufacturing group. You will oversee electrical maintenance, drive safety and ISO/QHSE initiatives, and coordinate with contractors to ensure reliability of critical equipment.
The role requires a bachelor's in electrical or electronics engineering, PLC programming with Siemens S7, and strong SCADA expertise (WinCC).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
- Hands-on PLC programming experience with Siemens S7-400 Simatic Manager and S7-1500 (TIA Portal).
- Strong SCADA knowledge, data collection and storage, preferably Siemens WinCC.
- Knowledge of industrial instrumentation systems.
- Experience in hot rolling plants, section rolling area preferred.
- Experience with Siemens system integrators preferred.
Responsibilities
- Plan and oversee preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of all electrical systems
- Supervise and guide shift in-charges, senior technicians, and maintenance teams
- Ensure compliance with QHSE policies, procedures, legal requirements, and management system standards
- Support ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and other management system requirements within the department
- Ensure electrical and automation maintenance activities are carried out safely with approved procedures, permits, and risk assessments
- Ensure Lockout/Tag out (LOTO) procedures during maintenance, shutdown, and troubleshooting
- Conduct HIRA for maintenance and project activities and implement controls
- Monitor safe work practices, PPE, housekeeping, and electrical safety in the department
- Handle, store, and dispose of electrical waste, oils, batteries, and hazardous materials per environmental requirements
- Participate in incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented
- Coordinate emergency preparedness for electrical hazards and automation system emergencies
- Ensure contractors comply with site safety and QHSE requirements
- Maintain documentation and records for maintenance, calibration, inspections, permits, audits, and compliance
- Support internal/external audits and management reviews related to QHSE systems
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety training for team members
- Report non-conformities and safety/environmental risks to management for timely closure
- Drive continuous improvement in quality, safety, reliability, environmental performance, and energy efficiency
