Job summary

L&T Construction is seeking an experienced EHS Engineer to support health, safety and environmental management activities for a major Roads EPC project in Dubai, UAE. The role will implement EHS systems at the project site, ensuring compliance with UAE regulations, client requirements and L&T Construction's safety standards.

The candidate will work closely with project management, construction teams, subcontractors and stakeholders to maintain a safe and environmentally compliant workplace.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Diploma in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety or a related field.
• Professional certification in Health & Safety / EHS is advantageous.
• 5–10 years of relevant EHS/Safety experience, preferably in EPC/infrastructure projects.
• Experience on large-scale construction/infrastructure projects in UAE/GCC is preferred.
• Good communication, coordination and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor the EHS Management System on site.
• Conduct site inspections, safety audits and compliance checks across road construction activities.
• Identify workplace hazards and ensure risk assessments and mitigations are implemented.
• Prepare and review JSA, Risk Assessments and Method Statements for construction activities.
• Monitor safety compliance for excavation, earthworks, roadworks, lifting, and utilities.
• Ensure compliance with UAE/Dubai EHS regulations and authority requirements.
• Coordinate with project teams to implement Traffic Management and Road Safety measures.
• Investigate incidents and near misses and contribute to root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Conduct toolbox talks, safety inductions and EHS trainings.
• Monitor PPE usage and adherence to safe work practices.
• Coordinate with subcontractors on EHS requirements.
• Maintain EHS documentation, inspections, training records, permits and reports.
• Support emergency preparedness activities, drills and procedures.
• Monitor environmental aspects like waste, dust, noise and spills.
• Prepare daily/weekly/monthly EHS performance reports.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor the project'sEHS Management System in accordance with company, client and statutory requirements.
• Conduct regularsite inspections, safety audits and compliance checks across road construction activities.
• Identify workplace hazards and ensure appropriaterisk assessments and mitigation measures are implemented.
• Prepare and reviewJob Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessments and Method Statements for construction activities.
• Monitor safety compliance for activities such as excavation, earthworks, roadworks, lifting operations, temporary works, traffic management and utility works.
• Ensure compliance with applicableUAE/Dubai EHS regulations and authority requirements.
• Coordinate with project teams to implementTraffic Management and Road Safety measures within construction zones.
• Investigate incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions and assist in preparingRoot Cause Analysis and Corrective Action Reports.
• Conducttoolbox talks, safety inductions and EHS awareness/training programs for employees and subcontractors.
• Monitor the use ofPersonal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensure adherence to safe work practices.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and ensure their compliance with project-specific EHS requirements.
• Maintain EHS documentation, inspection records, training records, permits and compliance reports.
• Support emergency preparedness activities, includingemergency drills and response procedures.
• Monitor environmental aspects such as waste management, dust control, noise, spills and other construction-related environmental impacts.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthlyEHS performance reports and statistics for project management.
• Assist in achieving project EHS objectives and maintaining azero-incident / proactive safety culture.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree / Diploma inEngineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety or a relevant discipline.
• Relevant professional certification inHealth & Safety / EHS will be an advantage.
• 5–10 years of relevant experience in EHS/Safety, preferably withinEPC, infrastructure, roads, highways or civil construction projects.
• Experience working on large-scale construction/infrastructure projects in theUAE/GCC is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of construction safety practices, risk assessment and incident investigation.
• Knowledge ofDubai/UAE EHS regulations and authority requirements.
• Good communication, coordination and reporting skills.

Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience inRoads, Highways, Infrastructure, Utilities or other major Civil/EPC projects in Dubai/UAE will be preferred.
