Job description

Keep buildings in clean and orderly condition. Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish. Duties may include tending furnace and boiler, performing routine maintenance activities, notifying management of need for repairs, and cleaning debris from sidewalk.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
2. Gather and empty trash.
3. Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
4. Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
5. Monitor building security and safety by locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliances to prevent hazards.
6. Notify managers about major repairs or additions needed for building systems.
7. Requisition supplies and equipment for cleaning and maintenance.
8. Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding for events.
9. Spray insecticides and fumigants to prevent infestations.
10. Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
11. Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaners and tools.
12. Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
13. Prepare cleaning solutions by mixing water and detergents or acids as specified.
14. Steam-clean or shampoo carpets.
