Job description

TeamManagement

  • Managesthe energy team within utilities department coordinating activitiesof the engineers and technicians.
  • The energyteam covers typical power infrastructure work instrumentation andcontrol for process mechanical extra low voltage design coveringsecurity ITS ICT etc.
  • Responsibility forworking with the teams leads and principals in managing the energyteam.
  • Ensure effective communication oftechnical and business issues to all staff reporting to you and thewider team.
  • Accountable for the performance ofthe energy discipline department and adherence to approved projectbudgets.
  • Fully accountable for the teamsutilisation targets.
  • Performs variousmanagement leadership and people accountability responsibilitiesfor the energy team.
  • Supports business changemanagement initiatives (i.e. quality management BIM projectexcellence) mandated by seniorleadership.
  • Recruits trains mentors andevaluates the staff within thedepartment.

TechnicalDeliveryManagement

  • Responsiblefor independently resolving all technical and managerial mattersabout the engineering issues within the energydepartment.
  • Must have solid understanding ofpower infrastructure networks (HV/MV/LV) Controls andinstrumentation as well as Extra lowvoltage.
  • Extensive experience of working onland development projects covering master planning stages todetailed design.
  • Identifies trends issues andopportunities for their area of the business industry service lineor process.
  • Conducts peer reviews leadverifications and shares knowledge through internal technicalpresentations and standardsdevelopment.
  • Provide high level technicalexpertise in terms of quantity quality and cost to assess whethertargets have been achieved and determine where improvements andefficiencies can be achieved.
  • Can performtechnical quality reviews including documentation in project recordin accordance with policies and procedures and approves and signsoff on work.
  • Serves as Lead Verifier (whererequired) confirming that the technical approach satisfies theclient scope of services and expectations. Approves and signs offwork.
  • Technical Coordination with Authoritiesfor approvals of projects.
  • Leading digitaltransformation strategy and implementation and embracing the changewithin the Discipline.
  • Plans and developsengineering tasks concerned with unique or controversial problems.This involves exploration of a subject area the definition of scopeand selection of problems for investigation and development ofnovel concepts and approaches.
  • Excellentpresentation and report writing skills. Must have experience ofdelivering presentations to seniorpersonnel.

ProjectManagement

  • Actas project manager on large and/or complexprojects.
  • Drives a culture of financialresponsibility ensuring maximumprofitability.
  • Has solid understanding ofproject delivery requirements and is well versed with projectmanagement techniques.
  • Understand and apply theprinciples of risk and value management and use risk and valuebasedthinking to make project leveldecisions.

BusinessDevelopment

  • Activelyinvolved with clients and leads business development initiativesparticipating in the preparation of major bids and proposals on thecommercial and technical side.
  • Activelyinvolved with clients and supports business developmentinitiatives.
  • Externally recognised as a leaderin one or more elements of technicaldiscipline.
  • Applies acquired expertise andknowledge to solve business challenges and develops the technicalstrategy for proposals within the area ofexpertise.

MinimumRequirements:

  • Minimum17 years experience with at least 10 years being in largeinternational engineering consultancy and 5 years in technicalleadershiprole.

  • Bachelors orMasters degree in electrical engineering orrelevant
  • Chartered Engineer orPE
