Job Overview
Senior Field Engineer applies engineering practices and knowledge to improve the field engineering discipline within Mcdermott. Acting as a lead engineer offshore, they share conceptual and practical expertise related to the field engineering discipline. They provide solutions and prepare mitigation plans to resolve complex problems, applying their discipline-specific knowledge to improve processes and services. The Senior Field Engineer plays a pivotal role in customer, client, project, or service activities with the assigned team, adhering to specifications, standards as applicable for the client side, and following Mcdermott guidelines and policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- 7 - 9 years of experience in the oil and gas industry with major contractors or consultants
- At least 2-3 years of operations and field engineering experience
- Thorough knowledge of Excel spreadsheets with macro commands
- MS Project scheduling software proficiency
- Familiarity with subcontract activities
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft tools like Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Knowledge of AutoCAD

Responsibilities
- Review all technical project documents upon contract award, identify discrepancies, and deficiencies in tender method statements.
- Attend bid interviews and participate in global management reviews.
- Ensure all bid inputs are reviewed and approved by relevant management before submission.
- Prepare technical clarifications about scope of work, drawings, and specifications for submission.
- Develop project plans and allocate resources to ensure timely engineering deliverables.
- Monitor project progress to prevent issues or delays.
- Lead in creating installation documentation, procurement, and fabrication materials.
- Ensure procurement, fabrication, and installation documentation comply with contract requirements.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Support engineering-related matters and ensure selection of competent suppliers or service providers.
- Determine work sequence, equipment, crew composition, and duration based on project requirements.
- Prepare schedules, miscellaneous costs, and technical drawings for bid submissions.
- Develop procedures on safe work methods for technical bid submissions.
- Review proposals, identify subcontracting needs, and prepare technical descriptions and bid pricing structures in coordination with relevant teams.
- Evaluate subcontractor qualifications and provide recommendations.
- Assist in tender resource planning and coordinate with other company functions for bid preparation.
- Review engineering studies related to offshore operations and prepare bid summaries.
