DAEP (Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects) is a leading engineering organisation responsible for the design, master planning, infrastructure development and construction of Dubai’s dynamic aviation sector. On behalf of the Government of Dubai, we spearhead the development of the world’s second-busiest airport for international passenger traffic, Dubai International Airport, and the emirate’s new airport, Al Maktoum International Airport, part of the world’s first 140-square-kilometer purpose-built aerotropolis, Dubai World Central.

We are seeking Senior Management level personnel to join us as Director of Mechanical. As a Government Organisation, DAEP undertakes a broad spectrum of Airport related construction works and we are seeking applicants to join our established team in Dubai, UAE.

Job Responsibilities will include:

Lead the Mechanical Engineering section and provide strategic direction, oversight, and guidance on the operational activities while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, time, and budget, in-line with DAEP’s objectives and strategy.
Liaise with customers (i.e. Dubai Government, Dubai Airports), stakeholders and DAEP various Units to effectively understand requirements and translate in to tangible results (as appropriate).
Lead the Mechanical Engineering section’s personnel and manage resources appropriately to ensure adequate level of support is provided at all stages of DAEP projects.
Lead the Mechanical Engineering section by directing and coordinating activities and setting deadlines consistent with established goals, objectives and policies.
Endorse all generated data and technical documents (i.e. master plan, tender documents, project programs) prepared during the design phase.
Oversee all technical decisions related to HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Fighting systems during the construction phase of the project.
Oversee standards, innovative conceptual designs, design constructability, the application of life cycle costing principals and resulting design optimisation.
Implement an effective and transparent reporting framework that highlights activities and outputs of the Mechanical Engineering section to the Executive and Senior Management.
Ensure appropriate management of cost and budget across Mechanical Engineering section (as per guidelines defined).
Ensure effective and efficient engineering support is provided as appropriate to the highest quality standards.

Key Accountabilities and Activities:

Will be DAEP’s single point of accountability for the Mechanical Engineering department.
Follow up progress of additional work, shortfalls and ensure satisfactory progress.
Continuous assessment/ technical inspections of the quality of work performed by contractors and consultants to ensure that it meets the required technical standards.
Head progress meetings / design reviews / site walks.
Compliance to all Safety and Security procedures and protocols.
