The purpose of this position is to provide effective specialist and level 4 & 5 engineering and maintenance services covering the Depot Equipment and On Track Plants for Dubai Metro.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist the Depot Equipment Team Leader in carrying out specialist and level 4 & 5 preventive and corrective maintenance activities and modifications on depot equipment and on track plants.
  • Carry out routine vehicle inspections, inspect parts for surface defects, change consumable items, perform repairs, and technical cleaning.
  • Manage the safe system of works, ensuring maintenance schedules are met.
  • Test the functional performance of electromechanical assemblies, replace and install electrical and electronic parts, and assemble components using appropriate tools.
  • Operate metalworking machines, repair and calibrate hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and verify dimensions to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Perform fault diagnostics and component replacements on depot equipment, either on-site or in the depot.
  • Follow maintenance procedures, operating rules, and safety protocols.
  • Conduct wheel re-profiling using the under-floor wheel lathe as required.
  • Overhaul trains by inspecting and repairing major components and systems at defined intervals.
  • Support the implementation of complex systems or new projects alongside the technical team.
  • Be flexible to be assigned to the First Line Response Technicians team when needed.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records using a computerized management system.
  • Perform duties as instructed by supervisors, ensuring safety and compliance.
  • Implement safe access procedures and perform shift and emergency duties as required.
  • Ensure compliance with management systems, data security, and confidentiality policies.
  • Prioritize safety, health, and welfare, adhering to organizational HSE responsibilities.
  • Complete all required training and report any incidents or breaches appropriately.

Key Skills

  • Good eyesight and normal color vision.
  • Strong mechanical understanding of rolling stock components.
  • Proficiency in using and calibrating electrical, electronic, and mechanical test equipment, including PCs.
  • Ability to write technical reports, routine correspondence, and prepare method statements and drawings.
  • Effective communication skills, capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, with the ability to handle priorities.
  • Valid driving license with good driving skills and experience.

Knowledge Required

  • At least 5 years of experience in maintaining, repairing, and overhauling train components such as car bodies, bogies, suspension, couplers, draft gears, control systems, propulsion, brakes, batteries, electrical systems, doors, HVAC, and train monitoring systems.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in train maintenance and overhaul.
  • Experience in shunting and operating engineering vehicles or locomotives is advantageous.

Educational Qualification

  • Vocational trade certificate or diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent.
