Job description

Design Build Search is working closely with one of the UAE's leading main contractors. Due to phenomenal growth and a strong pipeline of work, they have opportunities for 2 Commercial Managers. The successful applicants will be based in Dubai, working on landmark developments in the Gulf. To be considered for this position, you must have 15+ years of experience working in the UAE with a main contractor managing the full project lifecycle.

Position:

Commercial Manager

Experience:
  • 15+ years of experience in UAE
  • 15+ years with a main contractor managing the full lifecycle
  • 10+ years working on projects valued in excess of 200 million AED
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field
  • 20+ years of post-college experience
  • Extensive experience in large-scale projects
  • Extensive experience with FIDIC contracts
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the commercial team and support the Commercial Director in delivering key responsibilities, including training and development
  • Supervise the preparation of cost plans for complex projects using various cost planning techniques and software, managing data compilation and analysis
  • Prepare long-term cash forecasts for complex projects, monitor results, interpret deviations, and implement strategies to optimize cash flow
  • Negotiate contracts with clients and employers, identifying unacceptable terms and conditions
  • Monitor costs from vendors and subcontractors, analyze variances, and manage issues related to costs and recoveries
  • Report on actual costs and compare with estimates to assist in planning and scheduling
  • Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other documentation throughout the project lifecycle
  • Assess the cost-effectiveness of products, projects, or services, tracking costs relative to bids as projects develop
  • Establish and maintain cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures
  • Conduct studies to develop standard hours and related cost data for cost reduction initiatives
