The American University of Sharjah invites applicants for a full-time faculty position at the rank of professor, who will also serve as the Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi Endowed Chair in Women’s Leadership. The successful candidate is expected to promote interdisciplinary research, innovative teaching, and community engagement in women's leadership, advancing understanding of leadership dynamics, gender equity, and empowerment. Priority will be given to distinguished scholars with a significant body of work addressing challenges, practices, and strategies in women’s leadership across sectors. The Endowed Chair will play a key role in advancing the university's mission to foster an inclusive environment and advocate for women’s empowerment and social equity. The appointment will be within an academic department aligned with the candidate’s expertise.

Job Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have:

  • A PhD in a discipline represented in one of the four colleges/schools at AUS.
  • A distinguished record of research and education in Women’s Leadership, including women’s studies and advancement, with high scholarly productivity and impact.
  • An international professional reputation and excellence in teaching.
  • Cultural and regional awareness and proven leadership capabilities.
  • Publications in top-tier management journals are a plus.
  • Willingness and ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses across the curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct and publish original research on women’s leadership, women in multicultural societies, or social justice in the UAE and Gulf region.
  2. Build an intellectual community and lead Women’s Studies through outreach, public discussions, workshops, and symposiums.
  3. Develop innovative leadership programs for women to enhance confidence, influence, and resilience.
  4. Advocate for women’s issues and gender equality within the academic community.
  5. Engage with the department as a regular faculty member, teaching, research, supervising students, and service.
  6. Provide annual reports to NAMA Women Advancement Establishment (NAMA) and collaborate on programs, workshops, and events to promote gender diversity.
