Job description

Provide early intervention to promote the educational and social development of identified pupil/s under the direction and guidance of the Head of Inclusion.

Teaching and learning:

. Clear understanding of the British Curriculum.

. Meeting with other professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and educational psychologists, if required.

. Work with the Head of Inclusion to ensure that the learning requirements are met in terms of reasonable adjustments and access arrangements.

. Planning and delivering interventions, for students of determination across the primary school.

. Supporting EAL students.

. Coordinate in-class support for both students of determination and gifted and talented students.

. Supporting the writing and reviewing of IEP's to track progress.

. Updating SEN/POD register.

. Consolidating data as required across subjects and years.

. Maintaining G & T register and creating/monitoring Advance Learning Plans.

. Liaising with teachers to support them and advise on strategies as appropriate.

Assessment and data:

. Using data provided by assessments to influence further planning, provision and intervention.

. Providing feedback to parents and carers on a student's progress at Parent Teacher Conferences and other meetings.

Behaviour management and duties:

. Follow the school's established policies and procedures, e.g., behaviour, code of conduct and child safeguarding policy.

. Manage classes effectively, using approaches which are appropriate to students' needs in order to inspire, motivate and challenge pupils.

. Maintain good relationships with pupils, exercise appropriate authority, and act decisively, when necessary, within the school's established policies.

. Be a positive role model and demonstrate consistently the positive attitudes, values, and behaviour, which are expected of pupils.

. Have high expectations of good conduct, promoting self-control and independence of all learners.

. To ensure a safe and secure environment that allows for appropriate social, emotional, and academic growth for all students.

. Carry out duties as directed and within the school's established policies.

Wider professional responsibilities:

. Support in organizing and taking part in school events, outings and extra-curricular activities (ECAs) which may take place after school hours.

. Communicate effectively with parents/carers with regards to student's achievements and well-being using school systems/processes as appropriate.

. Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school.

. Take initiative of own professional development to secure high quality teaching and for successful execution of roles and responsibilities.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification in SEN.

Minimum Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience working with SEN/POD children.
