Position - Refrigeration technician - Cold Storage

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Refrigeration Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair refrigeration systems in a cold storage facility. The technician will ensure all equipment operates efficiently and safely to maintain required temperature standards for product preservation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect, maintain, and repair refrigeration systems, including compressors, evaporators, condensers, valves, and controls.
  
• Monitor system performance and make adjustments as needed to ensure optimal operation.
  
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  
• Troubleshoot and diagnose system failures or inefficiencies.
  
• Maintain proper records of maintenance activities, repairs, and refrigerant usage in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company safety policies.
  
• Respond promptly to emergency service calls and equipment breakdowns.
  
• Assist with installation and commissioning of new refrigeration units or upgrades.
  
• Communicate effectively with operations and maintenance teams to coordinate work and reduce system interruptions.
  

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training in HVAC/R preferred.
  
• EPA Universal Certification required; ammonia refrigeration experience or RETA certification (CARO/CIRO) is a plus.
  
• Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, electrical systems, and mechanical components.
  
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks under pressure.
  
• Familiarity with control systems, sensors, and automated monitoring is an advantage.
  
• Must be able to work in low-temperature environments and lift/move heavy equipment as needed.
  

Work Environment:

• Cold storage facility (temperatures as low as -10F).
  
• Requires PPE and adherence to safety protocols.
  
• Rotating shifts, weekends, and on-call duty may be required.
