Job Overview

Senior Field Engineer applies engineering practices and knowledge to improve the field engineering discipline within McDermott. Acting as a lead engineer offshore, they share conceptual and practical expertise related to the field engineering discipline. They provide solutions and prepare mitigation plans to resolve complex problems, applying their discipline-specific knowledge to improve processes and services. The Senior Field Engineer plays a pivotal role with customers, clients, project, or service activities within the team, ensuring adherence to specifications, standards, and McDermott guidelines and policies.

Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Review all technical project documents upon contract award, identify discrepancies, deficiencies, and ensure alignment with project requirements.
• Participate in bid interviews and global management reviews.
• Ensure all bid inputs are reviewed and approved by the Division Manager and General Superintendent before submission.
• Prepare technical clarifications regarding scope, drawings, and specifications for proposal submissions.
• Develop project plans, allocate resources, and monitor progress to ensure timely completion of engineering deliverables.
• Lead in creating installation documentation, procurement, and fabrication materials.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth project operations.
• Support engineering-related matters to the Project/Procurement Subcontracting Department, ensuring selection of competent suppliers.
• Determine work sequences, equipment, crew requirements, and durations based on project specifics and historical data.
• Prepare project schedules, miscellaneous offshore costs, and technical bid evaluations.
• Review subcontractor qualifications and prepare technical descriptions and bid pricing.
• Coordinate with various functions for tender preparation and review engineering studies related to offshore operations.
• Prepare bid summary documents and dive task plans for diving-related jobs.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications and Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
• 7-9 years of experience in the oil and gas industry with major contractors or consultants
• At least 2-3 years of operations and field engineering experience
• Proficiency in Excel with macro commands, MS Project, and basic Microsoft Office tools
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and familiarity with subcontract activities
