Job description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Welder with experience in steel structure and framework fabrication and assembly. The ideal candidate will be responsible for welding and assembling steel components according to specifications and blueprints to ensure structural integrity and safety. This role requires precision, physical stamina, and a solid understanding of welding techniques and safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
• Perform MIG, TIG, and Stick welding on structural steel components
• Assemble and weld steel frameworks used in buildings, bridges, supports, and other infrastructure
• Conduct layout, cutting, grinding, and fitting of steel parts as needed
• Inspect completed welds for structural integrity and ensure compliance with codes and standards
• Operate and maintain welding equipment and tools
• Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other tradespeople
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Assist in rigging, hoisting, and installation of steel structures as required

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or apprenticeship preferred
• Proven experience as a structural steel welder or similar role
• Proficient in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding techniques
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols
• Knowledge of safety practices and welding codes (e.g., AWS D1.1)
• Physical strength and stamina to lift heavy materials and work in various positions
• Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship
• Valid welding certification(s) preferred
• Ability to work at heights and in outdoor environments

Working Conditions:

• Construction sites, workshops, and potentially remote locations
• Exposure to hot surfaces, welding fumes, loud noise, and heavy machinery
