Head of Engineering, UAE
The Head of Engineering will be responsible for advancing and positioning the fleet in terms of reliability, cost, and efficiency, aiming to be within the top quartile globally over the project lifecycle while complying with applicable contractual documents. They will oversee the lifetime management and integrity of major capital assets, including Gas & Steam Turbines, HRSGs, pressure systems, generators, transformers, electrical distribution systems, desalination, pumps, pipework, tanks, and structural assets, collectively known as the assets.
The role requires developing and implementing local procedures and methods to ensure compliance with operator directives, manufacturer recommendations, and good engineering practices. The Head of Engineering is a member of the Senior Management Team within the cluster and is responsible for the assets assigned within this cluster.
Key Responsibilities
- Risk assessment of plant operation effects on plant remnant life and integrity.
- Implementation of management systems and development of local procedures to manage engineering risks, ensuring compliance with corporate technical procedures.
- Development and implementation of inspection schemes to assess plant condition periodically.
- Development of long-term outage plans and management of annual outages, including budgeting, procurement, and technical specifications.
- Ensuring timely completion of outage activities, managing outages safely, on time, and within budget, and recording lessons learned.
- Leading plant condition monitoring programs and collaborating with maintenance to optimize maintenance requirements.
- Leading investigations into failures and implementing reliability improvements.
- Liaising with operations to identify plant improvements related to operability, safety, environmental impact, efficiency, and flexibility.
- Implementing safety integrity testing programs and communicating OEM TILs and notifications.
- Managing plant modifications and overseeing change management processes.
- Mapping team competencies and ensuring active participation in a global network of experts.
- Reviewing KPIs and defining continuous improvement programs.
- Supporting design reviews and supervising commissioning and performance tests.
- Facilitating communication among engineering teams across power stations, sharing best practices and innovations.
- Ensuring high reliability and resource efficiency, and implementing actions from RCA and fleet experience.
- Reviewing scopes of work for major overhauls and refurbishments in coordination with site management.
- Sharing lessons learned and implementing derived actions across the technology fleet.
- Supporting O&M Readiness Assessment prior to plant takeover.

- Controlling engineering budgets and contributing to business planning.
