Job Description

Wood is recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its UAE Business Unit, focusing on advising on the selection of mechanical equipment for a Major Onshore Brownfield Project in Sharjah, UAE, on a 5/2 work schedule.

This is a full-time, office-based role in Sharjah, UAE, with travel requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Provide advice on the selection of mechanical equipment
  • Specify rotating equipment
  • Prepare enquiry requisitions
  • Conduct technical evaluation and clarify supplier bids
  • Supervise supplier design and coordinate interfaces with other engineering disciplines
  • Review supplier documentation for project integration
  • Contribute to design reviews, risk assessments, and constructability reviews
  • Support inspection and testing of equipment and attend testing for critical equipment
  • Assist in construction and commissioning activities
  • Manage packages related to rotating equipment, including coordination with suppliers and compliance with project specifications
Qualifications
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in the oil and gas industry
  • Expertise in the selection, specification, and design of rotating equipment
  • Knowledge of standards of major oil companies
  • Familiarity with industry codes like API, ASME
  • Experience with static equipment is advantageous
  • Knowledge of package management processes and supplier coordination
  • Good communication skills and a flexible attitude
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
