Educating and assisting the public with all animal related information including show presentation, school orientations, face to face discussion and organizing of events.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Zoo educators are responsible for teaching visitors about the animals kept at the zoo and promoting conservation efforts.
Public awareness about conservation, ecosystems, and animal welfare to promote conservation efforts and enhance flora and fauna protection. This exchange of information can be conducted formally (in lectures and guided tours) or informally (answering questions).
Engage with schools and visitors by providing information about Emirates Park Zoo and its collection of animals.
Present live animal shows and education demonstrations (in-situ programs) for schools and visitors.
Interact with veterinarians, nutritionists, trainers, zoo keepers, and other zoo staff to keep up to date with the latest happenings at the zoo and its animals.
Contribute to and conduct ex-situ educational presentations and exhibitions to increase public awareness and knowledge about flora and fauna by opening the floor for them to be a link to conserve animals (this may involve bringing and handling live animals).
Prepare educational materials for presentations. These items may include posters, brochures, banners, workbooks, and other handouts.
Handle guest concerns and resolve problems in a manner that is polite, helpful, and accurate.
Answer questions, provide accurate information, and interact with visitors in a manner that is welcoming and encourages repeat visits.
Engage with volunteers and interns of EPZ to achieve zoo goals.
If needed, assist in producing videos, taking photos, and creating multimedia presentations used to promote the zoo and its programs.
Educate people on providing correct foods for animals to keep them healthy and conduct Educators Talks about animals and conservation to interact with guests (this involves engaging with staff stations in the petting zoo area, monkey area, giraffe area, animal paradise, and domestic area).
Provide experiences for visitors to enable them to make choices about their impact on the environment (both positive and negative).
If needed, help with any emergency incidents relevant to animals and people.
If needed, assist with animal observations to keep animals healthy.
Requirements
Education Qualifications and Training:
Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences, education, communications, zoology, biology, animal science, or a related field.
Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to adapt to audiences of different ages and learning abilities.
Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and to stand and maintain alertness for long periods of time.
Self-confidence.
Excellent customer service skills and teamwork.
Punctuality, professional appearance, and manner at all times.
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
Able to work a flexible/changing schedule and daily assigned responsibilities. Some evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required.

Additional Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous cashier or customer service experience is preferred. Strong communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus.
