Job description

We are headquartered in the UK with a global presence in Europe, Middle East, the US, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

As a premier transcript provider, Opus 2 works exclusively with industry’s leading court reporters to capture the highest quality transcript of the spoken word in hearings, trials, arbitrations, inquiries, and more. We are looking for an Editor to join our growing company in the Middle East, working alongside independent editors and the Opus 2 team.

Primary responsibilities

  • Have technical knowledge of computer-aided translation (CAT) software, Total Eclipse or Case Catalyst;
  • Provide an accurate transcript of the verbatim record of legal proceedings in collaboration with the Writer;
  • Edit transcripts in Total Eclipse and/or Case Catalyst, either in real-time or after the event, referencing audio to ensure proper formatting, correct spelling of names and terms, proper punctuation, and error correction;
  • Assist with processing the final transcript at the end of the day, including providing ASCII files;
  • Amend transcripts and prepare errata sheets according to client instructions;
  • Maintain up-to-date glossaries for all court reporting jobs.

Requirements

  • Prior experience as a court reporter;
  • Extensive English vocabulary and excellent grammar skills;
  • Minimum typing speed of 200 WPM;
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a low tolerance for errors;
  • Professional, courteous, and confident communicator capable of building rapport with judges, lawyers, and colleagues;
  • Ability to work under pressure;
  • Proactive, energetic, and eager to learn;
  • Flexible team player.

Other information

  • Overtime work (after hours) may be required to meet transcript deadlines;
  • Travel to the Middle East and surrounding areas may be necessary;
