Job description

We are hiring a Project Cost Controller to join our construction client in monitoring and managing the cost elements of construction projects. The role involves tracking budgets, analyzing cost variances, and ensuring financial control from project inception to completion. The ideal candidate will possess solid experience in construction project accounting and cost control within the UAE market.

Key Responsibilities :
  1. Monitor and control project budgets, forecasts, and actual costs to ensure alignment with the approved budget.
  2. Prepare and maintain cost reports and dashboards for management review on a regular basis (weekly / monthly).
  3. Track project expenses, commitments, and invoices, ensuring accurate cost allocations by cost code and work breakdown structure (WBS).
  4. Support procurement by validating vendor / supplier pricing and contract compliance.
  5. Verify subcontractor invoices, purchase orders, and payment applications for accuracy and contract adherence.
  6. Analyze cost variances, assess risks, and provide early warning signals of budget overruns.
  7. Assist in preparing financial progress reports, cash flow projections, and budget-to-actual comparisons.
  8. Coordinate with planning, engineering, and site teams to validate work progress versus expenditures.
  9. Ensure all cost control procedures and practices comply with internal policies and local regulations.
  10. Participate in project audits and provide supporting documentation to finance and external auditors.
Qualifications & Skills :
  1. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Quantity Surveying, or Engineering.
  2. Minimum 4-6 years of experience in cost control within the UAE construction or contracting industry.
  3. Strong knowledge of construction project accounting and budgeting principles.
  4. Proficiency in ERP systems (such as Oracle, SAP, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
  5. Familiarity with cost control tools and methodologies (e.g., Earned Value Management, cost codes).
  6. Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
  7. Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
