Associate Professor (or Higher Rank) Performing Arts Coordinator

The Performing Arts Program at the American University of Sharjah invites applications for a faculty position as Performing Arts Coordinator at the Associate Professor rank or higher commencing in August 2025. The AUS Performing Arts Program is a truly multi-cultural environment serving students from more than 90 different countries.

Responsibilities
  1. Oversee production of all Theatre and Music performances
  2. Teach a 2-1 load in an area of expertise related to Music or Theatre
  3. Collaboratively develop and implement a strategic vision, goal, and direction for the current minors, with possibilities of growth towards majors
  4. Administer the development and revision of the curriculum
  5. Encourage and support faculty/student research and creative projects
  6. Oversee the program budget, faculty assessment, course scheduling, and assignments
  7. Serve on the Dean of Arts and Sciences Executive Council
  8. Liaise between Performing Arts faculty and university administration
Required Qualifications
  1. Terminal degree in Music or Theater (PhD, DMA, or MFA)
  2. Extensive record of service, research, and creative activity
  3. Earned rank of Associate Professor or Higher
  4. Significant teaching experience in higher education
  5. 3 or more years of experience in an Arts Administration position
  6. Strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills

The Performing Arts Program has 6 full-time faculty members, all specialists, performers, and researchers in a broad variety of genres in both Music and Theatre under the auspices of the College of Arts and Sciences. The program offers minors in Theatre and Music with diverse course offerings, including both Western and Eastern musical and theatrical traditions.
