Job description

Junior Technician Baggage Belt Dubai Airport

Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Certificate with 18-24 months of industrial hands-on experience, OR Diploma Certified with 12-18 months of industrial hands-on experience.

Mandatory to communicate in English and have experience working in diverse cultural environments, adapting to different work ethics.

  1. Comply with HSE, airport security, client, legal, and other site requirements. Follow all safety rules and regulations, taking appropriate precautions at all times during work hours. Be responsible for your own health and safety, and ensure the safety of others affected by your actions.
  2. Do not perform any "live work" on BHS. Always isolate affected conveyors before starting maintenance or operational tasks. Use suitable PPE, and ensure safety fencing or covers are in place. Close all safety measures after completing work before restarting machinery. Report any incidents, hazards, or abnormalities to the supervisor or HSE.
  3. Perform daily checks during peak hours without touching moving parts, record observations, and report to the supervisor. Escalate support needs as required.
  4. Carry out preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance as instructed, complying with SOPs and safety regulations.
  5. Understand electrical and electronic components, analyze faults, troubleshoot issues, and implement preventive and corrective actions. Seek continuous improvements.
  6. Manage tools required for the shift, ensuring proper usage and maintenance. Carry a tool pouch with necessary tools during work hours.
  7. Maintain spare parts in the emergency kit, escalate if used, and hand over faulty spares to stores.
  8. Use communication radios properly, coordinate with the control room and area supervisor, and ensure effective communication.
  9. Report to the assigned BHS area on time, participate in safety toolbox talks, and ensure proper handovers and follow-ups.
  10. Perform housekeeping duties as instructed, keeping the BHS system and surrounding areas clean and tidy.
  11. Handle baggage such as fallen, non-IATA, odd/normal shape, clear, and unclear bags as instructed by the control room or supervisor.
