Job description

The Haven laboratory of Dr. Sandra Siby, in the Division of Engineering at New York University Abu Dhabi, invites applications for a Research Assistant position in security and privacy.

The lab's mission is to empower individuals with control over their privacy and protection from digital threats. Our goals include:

  1. Developing technological solutions that ensure user security and privacy without compromising their online experience.
  2. Collaborating with stakeholders to promote policies that prioritize user protection.

Current research topics focus on enhancing security, privacy, and trust on the web and in on-device machine learning. More information about Dr. Siby's research is available at https://sandrasiby.github.io/. The lab website is at https://sites.google.com/nyu.edu/haven-lab.

The successful candidate will participate in research involving applied machine learning, systems building, and internet measurements. This role is ideal for individuals eager to contribute to a new lab's research directions and culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Help define the lab's research directions and methodologies.
  2. Lead and collaborate on impactful research projects in security and privacy.
  3. Mentor undergraduate students on research projects.
  4. Engage with academic and industry partners to advance research goals.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  2. Strong programming and analytical skills, with willingness to learn new technologies.
  3. Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in cybersecurity, privacy, web technologies, or applied machine learning.
  2. Previous research project experience.
