The Gulf County 4-H Agent and a team of volunteers and staff make a positive impact on the growth and development of youth in Gulf County helping shape future generations of leaders. The 4-H Youth Development Agent focuses on 1) volunteer development and 2) positive youth development through collaboration with 4-H volunteers, 4-H Extension colleagues, and Extension colleagues in the other Extension program areas. The 4-H Extension Agent position is a full-time, permanent status accruing faculty member of the University of Florida working jointly for UF / IFAS Extension and Gulf County. This 4-H Agent provides overall leadership for the 4-H Program and guides programmatic outcomes and evaluation to support youth in Gulf County.

Gulf County is a coastal, rural community located on the Gulf of Mexico, miles southwest of Tallahassee, the state capital. Gulf County has a population of approximately 14,000, of which the 4-H youth population is estimated at 2,000. The primary residence of the 4-H Extension Agent will be at the UF / IFAS Extension Gulf County Office in Wewahitchka, FL located at E. Lake Ave. UF / IFAS Extension Gulf County has an additional coastal office located in Port St. Joe, FL, at E. 4th Street to provide expanded educational support for Gulf communities. We are a team of two faculty and two county program / office support members.
Employment is contingent on the results of a national background screening. Gulf County may require drug testing and additional requirements for employment.
Candidates must possess or obtain a Florida driver’s license, be able to work flexible hours, and be willing to occasionally work long and irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and overnight travel.
