Job description

Economist (Training and Capacity Building Institute)

The Economist is responsible for supporting the Training and Capacity Building Institute (TCBI) by conducting training courses, workshops, economic research, and analysis. This role supports the AMF’s mission to enhance the economic stability of its member countries through training and development initiatives.

Key Accountability Areas and Activities

  1. Contribute to the development and implementation of methodologies for assessing training needs across member countries, in line with the Institute’s strategic objectives.
  2. Engage with stakeholders in coordination with the director of the Institute, including member country representatives and internal departments, to gather information and insights on training requirements.
  3. Conduct gap analysis to identify capacity building needs and prioritize training areas based on analysis results.
  4. Design and develop programs that address identified training needs, ensuring content relevance and effectiveness.
  5. Tailor training programs to meet the specific needs of member countries and align with participants' roles and responsibilities.
  6. Implement quality assurance processes to maintain high standards in training content and delivery.
  7. Deliver or coordinate the delivery of training programs through various formats, including workshops, seminars, online courses, and blended learning.
  8. Ensure that training methods are interactive and engaging, promoting active learning and knowledge retention.
  9. Coordinate with relevant internal departments, such as those involved in organizing training programs, including venue arrangements, hotel bookings, visa processing, and press coverage, to ensure attendees' satisfaction with the training experience.
  10. Contribute to the research activities of the AMF, including relevant studies and publications aligned with policy priorities in member countries.
  11. Develop training-related publications and materials to disseminate knowledge and best practices.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in economic analysis or finance, preferably within an international financial institution, research organization, ministry of finance, or central bank.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, economics, investment management, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in economics, finance, or a related discipline.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in Arabic and English; proficiency in French is an advantage.
