THE ROLE

As the Subcontract Manager at Damen Naval, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of assigned subcontracts within our naval shipbuilding projects. You will be assigned to the prestigious F126 project, where Damen Naval is building new Frigates for the German Navy. In this role, you will lead and manage all aspects of the project components to ensure timely, within budget, and high-quality completion and installation. You will facilitate collaboration with clients and internal teams. Good command of German is a plus. Availability for occasional travel to subcontractors in Germany and the building sites is required.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors and suppliers to achieve project objectives, focusing on timely execution and medium-term goals.
  • Ensure full compliance with project requirements and specifications, managing changes and fostering strong subcontractor relationships.
  • Oversee integration activities for seamless delivery of project obligations.
  • Participate in quality reviews and milestones, including FAT, HAT, and SAT, to uphold standards.
  • Conduct evaluations to optimize planning and execution, driving efficiency.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Candidates should have:

  • Over 10 years of experience managing manufacturing activities in complex industries, offshore, or naval solutions, preferably shipbuilding or defense industries.
  • IMPA D or equivalent international project management certification.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles, including Electrical Engineering and Automation systems.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in technical business administration, engineering, or relevant fields.
  • Excellent command of English; German proficiency is highly advantageous.
  • Strong references; security screening is part of the process.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are required; candidates with non-EU passports or visas are not eligible due to project security requirements.
