Job description

Job Description

Wood is recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its UAE Business Unit, focusing on advising on the selection of mechanical equipment for a Major Onshore Brownfield Project in Sharjah, UAE, on a 5/2 work schedule.

This is a full-time, office-based role in Sharjah, UAE, with travel requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Providing advice on the selection of mechanical equipment
  • Specification of rotating equipment
  • Preparation of enquiry requisitions
  • Technical evaluation and clarification of supplier bids
  • Technical supervision of supplier design and interface management, including coordination with other engineering disciplines
  • Reviewing supplier documentation for project integration, such as GA drawings, details, calculations, and fabrication procedures
  • Contributing to design reviews, risk assessments, and constructability reviews
  • Supporting inspection and testing of equipment, including attending testing for critical equipment
  • Supporting construction and commissioning activities
  • Providing technical support during installation and commissioning
  • Managing packages related to rotating equipment, including coordination with suppliers and ensuring compliance with project specifications
Qualifications
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry
  • Strong expertise in the selection, specification, and design of rotating equipment
  • Familiarity with standards of major oil companies
  • Knowledge of industry codes such as API and ASME
  • Experience with static equipment is an advantage
  • Understanding of package management processes and supplier coordination
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
