Job description

ROLE PURPOSE:

Faculty members within the rank of Lecturer are required to carry out assigned teaching courses, scholarly activities, services to GBSs, and administrative responsibilities as per GBS roles and allocations from time to time.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, workshops, and seminars.
  2. Collaborating with other academics and lecturers to improve teaching methods and expand knowledge base.
  3. Setting and grading assignments, tests, and exams.
  4. Attending and participating in meetings, conferences, and other events both within and outside the institution.
  5. Participating in training opportunities and initiatives at the institution.
  6. Providing support to students and colleagues.
  7. Staying current by reading widely and producing published work in the field.
  8. Periodically reviewing course syllabi to maintain consistency across the faculty and department.
  9. Ensuring consistency in course syllabus, weekly plans, assessment methods, and course file management.
  10. Recording advisement of courses for academically at-risk students and maintaining follow-up action plans for each.
  11. Ensuring effective instructor skills, communication skills, and command of the subject, and proactively detecting early warning signals in classroom management.
  12. Reviewing student feedback on teaching performance.
  13. Advising regular students and monitoring at-risk students to improve academic performance.
  14. Maintaining continuous improvement in activities such as instructional resources, learning assessment, library usage, IT facilities in classrooms, and arranging workshops for corporates and students.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Master's Degree as per position requirements.
  2. PhD preferred.
  3. Ideally 10 years of teaching experience in higher education.
  4. Proven track record in academics and research.
  5. A high degree of computer literacy and demonstrated ability to integrate technology into teaching methodologies.
  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels.
