Responsibilities
- Coordinate environmental and social activities during project development.
- Assess gaps against company E&S requirements/policies during due diligence and identify opportunities for value addition.
- Manage specialist consultants for complex E&S due diligence, studies, and monitoring.
- Support negotiations with portfolio companies to embed E&S rights in legal agreements, including E&S action plans.
- Assist in preparing project E&S management systems, policies, and procedures, and oversee the implementation of E&S action plans.
- Conduct site visits, monitor E&S plan implementation, review reports, and record ongoing performance.
- Resolve E&S non-compliance issues and develop corrective action plans with follow-up procedures.
- Coordinate daily E&S tasks performed by project company teams.
- Monitor compliance with E&S policies and requirements, including participation in meetings.
- Coordinate communication between international and local E&S consultants.
- Participate in meetings, providing technical E&S information and follow-up.
- Contribute to E&S training for internal teams and project companies.
- Support project discussions with international financing institutions on E&S topics.
- Oversee the preparation and implementation of project documentation, including policies and management plans.
- Supervise environmental, social, health, and occupational safety activities.
- Assist in reviewing and implementing E&S action plans.
- Prepare periodic reports on E&S monitoring activities.
- Support onboarding and training of new E&S team members.
- Maintain ISO Certifications and support corporate sustainability activities.
- Engage in ad hoc projects, such as external E&S communications and reports.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with international E&S standards, IFC Performance Standards, and Equator Principles.
- Willingness to travel to project locations.
- Master's degree in environmental engineering, sciences, sustainable finance, sociology, or related field.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of sustainability reporting frameworks and standards.
- Understanding of E&S issues in relevant sectors.
- Insight into E&S practice implementation challenges.
- Familiarity with policy development and monitoring processes.
- Knowledge of IFC Performance Standards and World Bank EHS Guidelines.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools.
- Fluent in English and French, both written and spoken.
