Job description

Commercial Director

Our client is seeking an experienced Commercial Director to take a leadership role across core business operations. This is a high-impact position that combines strategic oversight with hands-on execution, primarily across operations, contract and project management, and stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will act as the face of the business on the ground, ensuring operational excellence while representing the organisation to key external partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Leadership: Lead and manage field-based teams to ensure efficient, high-quality service delivery and alignment with organisational objectives.
  • Project & Contract Management: Oversee the planning and execution of large-scale, multi-stakeholder projects, ensuring contractual obligations are met on time and within budget.
  • Partnership & Supply Chain Development: Identify, develop, and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and strategic partners to optimise delivery and scalability.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for senior-level stakeholders, including government bodies, regulatory agencies, and investors, ensuring effective communication and relationship management.
  • Business Development Support: Collaborate with internal teams to support business growth initiatives, including proposal development, commercial strategy, and operational planning.
  • Performance Monitoring: Establish KPIs and reporting systems to monitor team performance and project progress, implementing continuous improvements where needed.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a senior operational or commercial leadership role, ideally within sectors involving large-scale field operations.
  • Strong background in managing complex contracts and delivering multi-phase projects.
  • Excellent team leadership and interpersonal skills, with a track record of building and motivating high-performing operational teams.
  • Experience liaising with high-level external stakeholders, including governmental and regulatory entities.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to balance long-term vision with practical day-to-day execution.
  • Willingness to be hands-on and present in the field to ensure direct oversight and accountability.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Engineering, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent qualification is a plus.
  • Experience in sustainability, environmental services, or infrastructure sectors will be highly regarded.
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
