Job description

The Senior Chemist at Emirates Biotech will translate R&D Chemistry into scalable process and product innovations, unlocking breakthrough approaches to biopolymer manufacturing and customized material solutions. This role will play a pivotal part in enhancing process efficiency, supporting the smooth operation of our manufacturing plant, and designing biopolymer formulations tailored for differentiated performance. Candidates with a strong background in process chemistry, leadership in cross-functional settings, experience in polymer processing and characterization are encouraged to apply. Prior experience with Polylactic Acid (PLA), biopolymers or polyesters will be considered a strong asset.

About the Company - With its headquarters in Dubai, focuses on the production and marketing of PLA biopolymers across the Middle East. Emirates Biotech aims to accelerate the transition to a circular economy by offering PLA biopolymers with a reduced carbon footprint that are fully recyclable and biodegradable. The company plans to build a PLA production facility in Abu Dhabi's KEZAD Free Zone, positioning itself as a leader in sustainable biopolymer solutions for the region.

Education:

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• 5-8 years of relevant industrial experience.

Technical Skills:

• Proven track record in R&D in chemicals, polymers, preferably in biopolymers
• Direct involvement in manufacturing or plant operations support, especially within a polymer or chemical production setting.
• Experience with PLA or related biobased/biodegradable polyesters is a strong plus.
