Job Description

GEMS Founders School Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced Whole School Coach (Teaching & Learning) to join our school from August 2025.

Job Purpose:

To carry out professional duties of a middle leader focusing on raising standards of learning and teaching across the school by driving standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assist the Principal and Leadership Team in school leadership, management, and improvement initiatives.
  2. Maintain and improve the provision of an outstanding educational experience within Metropole School.
  3. Carry out teaching duties in accordance with the National Curriculum to enhance teaching and learning.
  4. Collaborate with school leadership to identify strengths and areas for development.
  5. Provide teachers with individualized, classroom-centered training based on research-driven instructional strategies and methodologies, including follow-up support.
  6. Deliver professional development through Team Teaching, Lesson Modelling, and PD sessions.
  7. Review and provide feedback on key documents such as SEF, Lesson Plans, Schemes of Work, and resources.
Specific Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning
  1. Monitor and improve the quality of learning and teaching across the school.
  2. Review planning and teaching methods to meet diverse student needs, including SEN, Gifted and Talented, and ELL students.
  3. Model good classroom practice and demonstrate lessons for staff, parents, and external parties.
  4. Coach individual teachers as needed.
  5. Oversee the monitoring and observation cycle.
  6. Audit, organize, and allocate resources aligned with the Department's Action Plan.
  7. Liaise with other middle leaders to ensure progression and continuity.
  8. Ensure adherence to curriculum policies and schemes of work.
  9. Support curriculum planning and assessment processes.
  10. Monitor and support staff through classroom visits, work scrutiny, interviews, and professional dialogues.
  11. Attend relevant courses and disseminate information to staff.
  12. Assist in staff development coordination.
  13. Mentor new staff and ensure they are familiar with school policies.
  14. Ensure effective communication within your team and across the school.
Monitoring and Evaluation
  1. Develop and promote assessment tools and indicators to analyze and improve teaching and learning.
Discipline and Behaviour Management
  1. Establish high expectations for behaviour with clear guidance.
Financial Management
  1. Manage spending within designated areas in coordination with the Principal.
  2. Build strong relationships with parents and the wider school community.
  3. Promote home/school partnerships.
  4. Lead parent information sessions and school events related to innovation and technology.
  5. Contribute to Parents Evenings and communicate effectively with parents.
  6. Prepare a calendar of events for your subject area each term.
