Job Description
GEMS Founders School Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced Whole School Coach (Teaching & Learning) to join our school from August 2025.
Job Purpose:
To carry out professional duties of a middle leader focusing on raising standards of learning and teaching across the school by driving standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Principal and Leadership Team in school leadership, management, and improvement initiatives.
- Maintain and improve the provision of an outstanding educational experience within Metropole School.
- Carry out teaching duties in accordance with the National Curriculum to enhance teaching and learning.
- Collaborate with school leadership to identify strengths and areas for development.
- Provide teachers with individualized, classroom-centered training based on research-driven instructional strategies and methodologies, including follow-up support.
- Deliver professional development through Team Teaching, Lesson Modelling, and PD sessions.
- Review and provide feedback on key documents such as SEF, Lesson Plans, Schemes of Work, and resources.
Specific Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning
- Monitor and improve the quality of learning and teaching across the school.
- Review planning and teaching methods to meet diverse student needs, including SEN, Gifted and Talented, and ELL students.
- Model good classroom practice and demonstrate lessons for staff, parents, and external parties.
- Coach individual teachers as needed.
- Oversee the monitoring and observation cycle.
- Audit, organize, and allocate resources aligned with the Department's Action Plan.
- Liaise with other middle leaders to ensure progression and continuity.
- Ensure adherence to curriculum policies and schemes of work.
- Support curriculum planning and assessment processes.
- Monitor and support staff through classroom visits, work scrutiny, interviews, and professional dialogues.
- Attend relevant courses and disseminate information to staff.
- Assist in staff development coordination.
- Mentor new staff and ensure they are familiar with school policies.
- Ensure effective communication within your team and across the school.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Develop and promote assessment tools and indicators to analyze and improve teaching and learning.
Discipline and Behaviour Management
- Establish high expectations for behaviour with clear guidance.
Financial Management
- Manage spending within designated areas in coordination with the Principal.
- Build strong relationships with parents and the wider school community.
- Promote home/school partnerships.
- Lead parent information sessions and school events related to innovation and technology.
- Contribute to Parents Evenings and communicate effectively with parents.
- Prepare a calendar of events for your subject area each term.
