JOB DESCRIPTION
Wood is currently inviting expressions of interest for the Lead Technical Safety Engineer position based in Abu Dhabi.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Purpose:
Provide specialized technical safety/HSE inputs and review/approve TSE design documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Act as discipline engineer within integrated in-house/contractor teams handling multiple project responsibilities.
- Execute technical work for FEED and Detailed Designs, including designs, specifications, and drawings within designated CTR scopes.
- Maintain excellent HSE performance throughout the engineering phase of the project.
- Implement and monitor Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO 9001-2015 and API Q2 2nd edition requirements.
- Conduct discipline and inter-discipline checks and reviews of engineering and design work.
- Contribute to developing execution contracting strategies aligned with designs, construction, and operating methods.
- Stay engaged in design issues and decisions during construction, commissioning, and start-up.
- Create value for customers by understanding their drivers and success factors.
- Capture and apply lessons learned, incorporating improvements.
- Ensure continuous performance improvement, benchmarking as top industry tier.
- Write weekly time reports accurately.
- Ensure successful delivery of own discipline engineering and design work with proper reviews.
- Maintain quality and integrity of technical work, ensuring functionality, constructability, safety, and reliability of designs.
- Participate in multiple engineering reviews, providing sound design inputs.
- Contribute to excellent HSE performance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain effective interfaces within and between disciplines, and with other project teams and assets.
- Focus on the development of young TSE engineers.
- Provide guidance and advice on Technical Safety matters consistently within the team.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 15 years of experience, including at least 10 years in oil & gas and 6 years in FEED/Engineering.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience in the Middle East is preferred.
- Team player with a focus on collective performance over individual recognition.
- Ability to work in a team environment handling multiple projects.
- Proven track record in delivering work and conducting reviews.
- Experience in establishing and maintaining engineering processes, systems, and software tools.
