Job Description
Ensure the provision of technical support to studies, Major and Minor projects in the design of electrical power systems in all phases of the projects until commissioning. Lead studies and adequacies to safeguard the integrity, reliability, and availability of electrical assets throughout all company plants and electrical interfaces with other ADNOC Group Companies and/or outside companies.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Engineering Studies, Advice and Expertise
- Provide technical input to update company specifications to incorporate the latest industry trends and lessons learned.
- Support Projects Group with minor upgrade/revamping projects, major projects, develop conceptual studies, and prepare statements of requirements for new projects.
- Assist operation excellence team during asset life extension assessments (ALEM study) and support site and/or project teams during replacement of obsolete equipment to ensure modern, proven equipment with minimal risk.
- Witness factory and site acceptance tests, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of equipment/systems as requested, ensuring installation and performance meet specifications and approved drawings.
- Lead and participate in feasibility studies, review manufacturer proposals, and recommend modifications or upgrades to maintain reliability and high performance.
- Support in-house and outsourced multidisciplinary studies to address maintenance and operational issues, and prepare FEED scope of work and requirements.
- Assess future power requirements for new projects, ensuring they do not compromise existing power network reliability amid ongoing expansions/upgrades.
- Ensure accurate preparation of Electrical Technical Notes with recommendations to resolve design issues during project implementation and operations.
- Review execution strategies, designs, and specifications to optimize costs while meeting project requirements.
- Maintain consistency in preparing bid documents and evaluating project tenders.
- Lead investigations into equipment and electrical failures, liaise with vendors, and review systems for obsolescence and support.
- Oversee the implementation of assigned projects, including scope, tendering, evaluation, engineering, installation, and commissioning, ensuring adherence to budget and schedule.
- Participate in root cause analysis studies.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Minimum Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent professional qualification.
Minimum Experience & Skills
- At least 8 years of experience with electrical power systems and equipment in a large industrial context, preferably Oil and Gas.
- Experience with HV, MV, and LV switchgears, VFD systems, IPCS, MV & LV motors, EX equipment selection, UPS, and transformers.
- Experience with power system studies for large Oil and Gas projects, with good knowledge of electrical practices, calculations, and design details.
- Familiarity with international electrical codes, standards, and specifications; design experience is a plus.
- Practical knowledge of medium and high voltage systems, protection relay settings, and manipulation.
- Understanding of ISO 9000 QMS and EMS requirements.
- Strong planning, organizing, scheduling, and coordination skills.
